Rosemarie (Roses) Straughan
Roses was born on October 6, 1928, in San Angelo, TX. She passed peacefully on October 28, 2023.
She was raised in Ft. Stockton Tx. At the age of fourteen she became the youngest woman acrobatic pilot in the state of Texas. She proudly graduated from TCU in Ft. Worth in 1948 with degrees in Psychology and Drama. Roses married Larry Jenkins the same year. The couple had two children, Jalayne and Brad. They lived in several northeast Texas communities. Larry died after their move to Tucumcari, NM in 1963. Roses received a teaching certificate from Sul Ross University and taught speech, drama and psychology at Tucumcari High School.
In 1965 Roses married A. Lee Straughan of Vaughn, NM. Together they built a successful Dale Carnegie Training Franchise for the territories of NM, Southwest CO, West Texas and the State of Chihuahua, Mexico.
Roses is survived by her daughter Jalayne Billingham and husband Paul, son Brad Jenkins and wife Carol, stepdaughter Roann G. Sexson and partner Ron Mikus, stepson Ron L. Straughan and wife Cathy. She is also survived by many Grandchildren and Greatgrandchildren. She was a long-time member of Faith Lutheran Church and attended St. Stephen’s Methodist Church.
