Roselyn Grace Heun

May 19, 1925 — January 3, 2022

Roselyn G. Heun, 96, of Albuquerque, N.M., a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Jan. 3, 2022.
She was born May 19, 1925, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of John and Celia Dragonetti and married her husband of nearly 60 years, Raymond E. Heun, on May 10, 1947, in Chicago.
She is survived by her daughter Pamela (Rick) Lackey of Albuquerque, and sons David (Patrissa) Heun of Geneva, IL, and Richard (Susan) Heun of Albuquerque, as well as grandsons Steven Lackey, Mitchell (Alyssa) Heun, and Ryan Heun, and granddaughter Jenna Lackey, and great-granddaughters Quinn and Parker Heun.
Mrs. Heun was a post World War II stay-at-home mother, and helped guide her family through the transition of moving from Chicago to a suburb, Naperville, IL, in 1959.
She lived in Naperville with her family until 1983, when she and Raymond moved to Pueblo West, Colorado, in retirement and eventually to Albuquerque in 2004.
She loved nothing more over all of those years than having the family get together for big Italian meals on holidays or birthdays and to play board games, or the popular home versions of the TV games of the era, whether it was Jeopardy, Match Game, Password, Family Feud or Wheel of Fortune. She became skilled at all of these games, including card games, earning her the title of "Slick Granny" from family members who couldn't beat her in certain games.
When her family mentioned "Oh, oh, there she goes," it meant that something triggered her funny bone and she was about to go into a long stint of uncontrollable laughter, which of course made everyone around her join in. This could occur when watching something like "The Honeymooners" on TV, or in conversations when family members were sharing stories, or passing along funny incidents.
She welcomed her children's friends into her home like they were her own, leaving an indelible legacy of kindness and good nature that was never forgotten. She was always there to share the highs and lows of the daily challenges her family faced, and found her own piece of heaven on earth when the news was joyous to share about a new member in the family or a new accomplishment in work or play, all of which she always would say, "I was praying for that."
She was a member of the Catholic Church in every city she lived in, and attended Mass regularly until her health and ability to get around became limited.
Mrs. Heun was preceded in death by her husband Raymond and brother Anthony.
Memorial donations in her memory can be made to St. Jude Hospital in Memphis, TN, or an animal welfare or animal humane charity of your choice.
A memorial service is planned for the spring, with arrangements made through French Funerals & Cremations.
