Rose Marie Montoya, a long-time resident of Albuquerque, passed into the light on the morning of Thursday, June 12, 2014. Rose, 68, died at her home while in the arms of her two sons, Abel Abeita and Leo Montoya, after a 10 year battle with cancer. She was preceded by her brother, Max Montoya; sister, Linda Mendoza; and parents, Louise and Leonardo Montoya. Rose, born in Julesburg, Colorado, was an amazing and loving mother, sister, and grandmother. Retired from APS, Rose was an Army veteran and occupational therapist who loved to work with kids. She was a beautiful strong spirit who stayed true to her beliefs. She was an extremely generous, friendly, caring, brave, and funny woman. Rose lived her life with a loving and open heart. Rose's life will be honored with Mass on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 9:00 am at The Shrine of St. Bernadette, 11401 Indian School Rd NE, followed by a joyous celebration of her life at the Downtown Historic Bed and Breakfast in Huning Highland.
