Rose Gonzales

February 21, 1927 — April 13, 2013

Loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the age of 86. She was born in Las Vegas, NM to James and Melesia Wasson. She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Rey Gonzales, brothers, Eloy Wasson and Arthur Wasson, sister-in-law Stella Gonzales, and daughter-in-law Sooky Gonzales. She is survived by her son Larry Gonzales and wife Kathy, daughter Margaret Gutierrez and husband Charlie, son John Gonzales, son Richard Gonzales and wife Myra Ghattas, grandchildren Natalie DeBassige, Luz Alondra Gonzales, Jamie Gonzales, Charles Gutierrez, Lynea Gonzales, Cassandra Gutierrez, Naya Gonzales, great-grandchildren John and Nasiya Rose DeBassige, brother James Wasson and wife Viola, brother Joseph Wasson and wife Josie, sister-in-law Emma Madrid, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was an active member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. She devoted her life to her husband, children and grandchildren and made each one of them feel loved and cared for. She had a varied work history that included working at Kirtland Air Force Base and Albuquerque Public Schools, but her true passion was raising her children and grandchildren. The Rosary will be recited Thursday, April 18, 2013, 7:00 p.m., at Queen of Heaven Parish, 5303 Phoenix Ave NE. The Mass of Resurrection will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 19, 2013 at Queen of Heaven Parish. Interment will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at 12:45 p.m. Pallbearers will be Sam Wasson, Joseph Anthony Wasson, Jerome Wasson, Charles Gutierrez, Max Gallegos, and Jonathan Madrid. Honorary pallbearers are our family's little ones; John DeBassige, Nasiya Rose DeBassige and Naya Gonzales. Rose will be greatly missed by her family, friends and anyone she touched. She is gone from this life but not from our hearts. The family would like to express their gratitude to Hospice Compassus and For Your Care Home Health Care for the compassionate care of our Mom.
