Rose Brigid Berry born March 5, 1926 was delivered by her father during a snowstorm in Bear Canon near Raton N.M. Passed peacefully with her sister at her side on January 31,2022 at age 95. She was raised on the family ranch on Johnson Mesa, attending a 2-room schoolhouse and later attended Mount Saint Scholastica Benedictine in Kansas and Washington University in St. Louis earning her master's degree in social work. She had a long career working for Indian Health Services in Phoenix Arizona. Her love and dedication to the Native Americans was evident in her devotion to her work. Brigid enjoyed travel with family and friends touring both in the US and Europe. In 2006 she relocated to Albuquerque and spent her summers in Raton. She was a life- long faithful Catholic.
She is proceeded in death by her Parents Patrick and Bertha (McDonald) Berry, her siblings Patrick, Mary Ellen, Margaret, and John Berry, and several nieces and nephews. She is survived by sisters Anne Josey and Jane (Pat) Buhr. While Brigid had no children of her own, she enjoyed positive loving relationships with her 19 nieces and nephews and numerous great and great- grand nieces and nephews. She lived life on her terms. Her family would like to thank the staff at the Woodmark at uptown for their loving care of her for the last 9 years of her life. Services will be held at St. Patrick - St. Joseph Catholic Church in Raton New Mexico on February 18, at 10:00 a.m. burial will follow immediately at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
