Rosalie J. Gabaldon, born October 28, 1941, passed away peacefully on the morning of October 13, 2024, just 15 days shy of her 83rd birthday. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Celedon “Sal” Gabaldon, daughter Celeste G. Rhoades, daughter Laverne G. Brooks (Brian), granddaughter Nicole “Nikki” Gabaldon, grandson Isaiah Rhoades, step grandson Colton Brooks, beloved great granddaughters and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her infant son Damian A. Gabaldon, parents Demetrio and Lucia Jaramillo, stepmother Lucy Jaramillo who raised her as her own, five brothers: Walter, Junior, Herman, Sam, Ernest, three sisters: Adeline, Emma, Dolores. She was the youngest of the nine Jaramillo siblings.
Rosalie was a member of the first graduating class of St. Pius X. She was a stay-at-home wife and mother, who was very active in both daughters’ education, interests, and everyday lives. She loved watching the UNM Lobo basketball games, both men and women. She would make her plans around the games, and her family knew that was her time to watch the game on TV or listen to the game on the radio. She loved tending to her roses, with Sal, in their beautiful backyard. One of their favorite things to do was to go to Santa Ana Casino and play the slot machines. Her family called it “kachinging”. She loved bowling and was in a league for many years. She was not only a great Mother, but she was also a wonderful Grandmother. Her grandchildren, Nikki and Isaiah and her bonus grandson, Colton, meant the world to her as did her beautiful great granddaughters.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nursing staff at Genesis Sandia Ridge Center, where she spent the last four and a half years of her life. And a special thank you to Presbyterian Hospice who took wonderful care of her for the last ten months.
