On Sunday, April 11, 2021, Ronald B. Shelton passed away at the age of 65 after a short battle with cancer.
Ron was born in Austin, Texas to Jeanette and Emmett Shelton Jr., and was a graduate of Westlake High School. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Laurel; and his siblings, Cyndie (spouse Michael Farber), Barry, and Rick (spouse Bobbie). He was preceded in death by his father, Emmett, and his mother, Jeanette.
For the last 27 years, Ron called Albuquerque home. He retired a few years back from a life-long career as a locksmith with his own business. He loved cars and as he put it "antique cars and hot rods are my thing". However, he was a cowboy at heart, and enjoyed reading and rereading his collection of Louis L'Amores. While he did not have a horse, his best pal Rusty, a stray dog he found in the park, was always at his side. Ron liked helping people when they least expected it, such as stopping unasked to open a locked car (especially if there was a child or a dog inside!), and helping neighbors assemble Christmas bicycles. May he rest in peace.
