Ronald (Ron) Erwert

d. October 13, 2018

Ronald (Ron) Erwert, 64, a loving spouse and father and loyal friend, passed away October 13, 2018 after a more than 15-year battle with multiple myeloma.

A dedicated civil servant, Ron spent more than 35 years in federal service, mostly as an employee of the U.S. Forest Service, which allowed him to spend time in the outdoors of New Mexico. He was adventurous and was never happier than traveling off the beaten paths. He passed this love of the West on to both of his sons. He was a veteran of both the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Air Force and will be remembered for his strong faith, quiet strength, and integrity. He loved to read and was a strong encourager in the pursuit of education. In short, Ron was an all-around “Good Guy.”

He is survived by Carole, his wife of 38 years; son, David; son, Jonathan and wife, Caitlin; sister, Kathy Schmitt and husband, Ron of Mt. Angel, OR. He is predeceased by his parents, Otto and Pat Erwert.

Memorial Services will be held Thursday, October 25, 2018, 11:00 a.m., at Del Norte Baptist Church, 5800 Montgomery Blvd. NE. The family will be available from 10:15 to 11:00 a.m. to visit with friends and family. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM.
