Ronald Dean Craven

It is with heavy hearts that we said goodbye to a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Ronald Dean Craven.

Ron was born to Juanita Henry Craven and Carl V. Craven in Wray, CO on July 20, 1935 and departed this earth after courageously battling a lengthy illness on May 24, 2021 with his family by his side. Ron was united in marriage to the love of his life, Sharon A. Renzelman Craven, in Denver, CO on July 18, 1958, and they remained married for 62 years.

Ron proudly served his country in the Air Force and attended college in Ft. Collins, CO. Moving to ABQ in 1965, Ron worked in management at Furrs' Family Center, Charlie's Sporting Goods, and was co-owner of a Haagen-Dazs franchise on Louisiana. In the early days, Ron coached Connie Mack Baseball and was a lifelong avid fisherman and hunter. He actively participated alongside Bob Gerding at the Outdoor Adventure Hunting and Fishing Show, which was held at the NM State Fairgrounds for many years.

Those left to mourn his passing are his loving wife, Sharon; daughters, Jill (Kelly) Medford of Albuquerque, Jerri (Tim) Lusk of Aurora, CO; granddaughters, Kasi Medford of Albuquerque and Kellby Medford of Goodland, KS; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and dedicated loving friends.

Ron never knew a stranger and adored his family and friends. Ron was preceded in death by his mother and father; son, Douglas; and sister, Darlene Neely. The family requests that in lieu of flowers please donate to one of Ron's favorite charities, the Special Olympics or any animal rescue shelter.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, June 4, 2021, 10:00 a.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. Ron's final resting place will take place at a later date in Wray, CO.
