Roman "Ray" Montano, 47, was called to his eternal resting place on Monday, October 26, 2020. He entered this world on January 7, 1973 in Albuquerque, NM, born to Roman Sr. and Isabel Montano. He was a lifelong Albuquerque resident and South Valley native. Ray was reunited with his dad, Roman Sr.; mom, Isabel; and sister, Lisa.
His spirit lives on with his wife, Rachel; his step-son, Lorenzo; his step-daughter, Olivia; his daughters, Gabriela and Jene; his nephew, Daniel (Kaylin) Montano; his close aunts, Angie (Vences) Trujillo and Brenda (Mark) Pino; and countless aunts, uncles, cousins, co-workers and friends.
He is best known for being an amazing dad, his hard-working attitude, and goofy sense of humor. He spent over 20 years, most of that with CYFD of the State of New Mexico, connecting with troubled youth, fostering community, and fighting for justice. His positive impact on the community is felt statewide. Ray was a man of God, and devoted his life to loving his family, and doing for others. He had a contagious smile, and a beautiful spirit. He loved to build things (he could build and fix anything), loved to watch boxing, and enjoyed telling stories.
Due to current affairs, formal services will not be held at this time. In lieu of flowers to the family, please donate to your favorite organization to continue Ray's work in the community or further cancer research.
