Rolando A. Salas

Rolando A. Salas, 82, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away September 13, 2015. "Nano" will be missed by his family and his American Heritage family: April (and Marissa), Margie, Jennifer, Kenia, Chante and the lady residents. He was born on May 9, 1933 in Santa Rosa, NM to Fred and Fidela (Sanchez) Salas. He graduated from New Mexico State University with a bachelor's degree in mathematics. Mr. Salas served in the U.S. Army, taught high school math in Alamogordo, NM, and worked as a DOD civilian at White Sands Missile Range. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Las Cruces Chapter; often serving as bartender on the weekends. Rolando is survived by his children, Sister Estrellita, Becky and Scott Auringer, Toby Salas, Steve and Cheryl Salas, Ruth and Isreal Tavarez, Chris and Maria Elena Salas, Maria and Tim Vinson, and Carlos and Emily Salas; 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Sipio Salas and Julian Salas; and sister, Maria Dulcinea Salas. Mr. Salas was preceded in death by his beloved Dolores; son, Robert Salas; grandson, John Salas; and brother, Fred Salas, Jr. Rosary will be recited Wednesday, September 23, 2015, 7:00 p.m., at FRENCH - Wyoming.
