Age 75, beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle, was called to his eternal resting place on December 26, 2014. He entered this world on August 30, 1939 in Cudahy, WI, born to Dr. Joseph and Helen (Batskai) Kurucz. He is survived by his children, Christina Kurucz Noble and husband, Gary, Jeffrey Cheney and wife, Jerilyn, and Douglas Cheney and wife, Michelle; and his grandchildren, Sebastian Thornley, Brittany Cheney, Samantha Cheney Rivera-Bagley and her husband, Isaiah, and CAC.leste Cheney. As a graduate of Logan Chiropractic College and chiropractic professional, he championed providing a positive vision to the profession and its natural approach to health and wellness promoting high standards in professional ethics and quality of treatment. He was an active member of the New Mexico Chiropractic Association and the American Chiropractic Association serving on many boards and committees contributing to the health and well-being of millions of chiropractic patients offering care, leadership, and examples for the advancement of the profession. As a Northwestern University student, and an athletic scholarship recipient, Roger led the stellar Marching Band as Drum Major, marching under one of the most famous of its Directors, John P. Paynter, until his graduation in 1961. Roger, always a Northwestern Wildcat supporter, followed all the sports activities avidly but was a particular fan of its football team, attending most of its recent bowl games including the Rose Bowl in 1995. He returned to his old marching grounds for his last Homecoming game in 2014. Roger was an enthusiastic member of the Hungarian American Club of New Mexico and enjoyed promotion of his heritage. A Memorial Service will be Thursday, January 8, 2015, 10:30 a.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 9100 Menaul Blvd NE in Albuquerque where he was a longtime, active member serving in support of services and his faith as an Usher and Greeter.
