Robert "Rob" Henry Walker, age 37, beloved husband, father, son, and brother was called to his resting place on Sunday, July 24, 2022. He entered this world on August 18, 1984, in Bremerhaven, Germany, born to Randall and Sarah Walker. He is survived by his wife, Melissa Walker; daughter, Maryanne Elizabeth Walker; father, Randall Walker; mother, Sarah Walker; brothers, Matthew Walker, and Bryan Walker; and sister, Amy Walker McKleroy; brother-in-law, Michael McKleroy; and niece, Hanna.
Robert grew up in Anchorage, Alaska where he attended school and graduated from Bartlett High School. He joined the United States Air Force in November 2006 where he served at Travis Air Force Base in California for 10 years. He did many tours in the Middle East. In November 2016, the Air Force transferred Robert to Kirtland AFB, Albuquerque, New Mexico where he lived the remainder of his life. Robert served in the military until he was medically retired in October 2018. In 2019 he met his wife Melissa where they fell in love on their first date. Later, they became the proud parents of a beautiful baby girl, Maryanne.
Robert reached the rank of TSgt during his 12 years of military service. His military accomplishments include the Air Force Accommodation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Award, AF Outstanding Unit Award with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters, AF Good Conduct Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with 1 Service Star, Iraq Campaign Medal with 1 Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, Nuclear Deterrence Operations Service medal, Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon with Gold Border with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, AF Longevity Service with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, USAF NCO PME Graduate Ribbon, and Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon for Rifle.
Robert was goal driven and accomplished much in his lifetime. He made people fill at ease around him with his dad jokes. A few of his favorite things were classical music, camping, golf, baseball, fishing, and making Maryanne smile. He was kind, loving, patient, accepting of others, and loved spending time with family. He bravely fought cancer for over 5 years. His perseverance and strength over the last 5 years will always be remembered and admired.
We will be honoring Robert Walker and his life on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, with a Viewing beginning at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at FRENCH - Westside. Services will be followed by a burial with military honors at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico at 2:00 p.m.
