Robert A. “Bob” Hoberg, age 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 6, 2018.
Father of a wonderfully close and supportive family with six children, Kathy Wade, Steve Hoberg (Kim), Ruth Gore (Chester), Bill Hoberg (Robin), Mary Spitzmiller (Terry), Ellen Hoberg; twelve grandchildren, Emily, Robert, Liz, Sara, Laura, Rick, Will, Brian, Tom, Lauren, Jayme, and Marissa; and four great-grandchildren. Husband of his lovely bride, Joanie for 67 years.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, he became a successful business man in sales and management for the insurance and appraisal industries. He was a World War II Navy Veteran. Bob had an active retirement enjoying skiing, playing golf, public speaking, volunteering, and writing. He was a member of the National Speaker’s Association. He enjoyed his volunteer roles as counselor in Boulder, Colorado, and working with at-risk children as a mentor and Board President for Boulder County Partners. In Albuquerque he spent many years as a Peer Counselor and as an Ombudsman serving the NM Aging and Long Term Services Dept. Bob later became a member of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Senior Advisory Group and was a hospice volunteer. He enjoyed working at The Rio Grande Arts and Crafts Festival where Joanie was an exhibiting artist for 30 years. He was an inspiration, a mentor, and the co-creator of a wonderful and loving family. Bob leaves a legacy of giving, welcoming, inclusion and warmth. In his own words Bob says , “I have a wonderful life!” and in his family’s words, “He excelled at living!”.
Services will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2018, 10:30 a.m. at FRENCH – Lomas with reception to immediately follow.
