Roberta Yvonne Montoya (also affectionately known to many as, Bia) entered the Kingdom of Heaven peacefully on Thursday, December 8, 2022. She was born on Saturday, March 30, 1968, to Horacio Jr. and Bernadette Montoya in Las Vegas, NM. The first of the grand children to Mr. and Mrs. Faustin Gonzales. She was a life-long resident and member of the Catholic Church (Immaculate Conception) in Albuquerque, NM.
With heartfelt and fond memories, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Horacio Sr. and Antonia Montoya and maternal grandparents, Faustin and Cruzita Gonzales; her precious nephew, Cameron Montoya, aunt Mary Gonzales, uncle Secundino Montoya, and aunt Nancy Gonzales.
Roberta is survived by her loving parents, Horacio Jr. and Bernadette; sons, Robert Lyons (Susana) of Colorado Springs, CO and Rey Montoya (Jacquline) of Albuquerque, NM; grandsons, Josue, Robert Jr. and Leo Lyons of Colorado Springs, CO; brother, Ross Montoya, sister, Reina Meza (Elias), and sister, Mona Montoya all of Albuquerque, NM. She also is survived by her niece, Kasandre Giron (Cesar); nephews, Stephan Meza, Dakota Meza(Alex), Lance Montoya; and great-niece, Genesis Giron all of Albuquerque, NM.
Roberta's greatest accomplishments were the births of her two sons, Robert Lyons and Rey Montoya along with her grandsons, Josue, Robert Jr. and Leo Lyons, whom she deeply loved.
She took pride in all the places of employment she had throughout her career. Making several life-long friendships which were a great source of comfort to her after she could no longer work.
She treasured all the time spent at the Montoya Ranch in Coyote, NM while making the best of every trip to visit family along the way in Las Vegas, NM.
One of her favorite past times was following the New Mexico Spanish music artists and attending their concerts/performances, to include Darren Cordova, Daniel Lee Gallegos and Luisa Gaytan. Most recently, she emceed the Spanish music events during the NM State Fair. She enjoyed singing to all her favorite artists as well.
Another favorite past time of Roberta's was taking photos of family, animals and outdoor scenery, especially of the Montoya Ranch.
Animals held a huge place in her heart like her dog Kaylee and cats Medusa and Mia. She also made sure the neighborhood cats were always fed.
A special heartfelt thank you to Roberta's trusted confidant, Jacquline Hampsten for her constant love and support.
Roberta will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She impacted all of our hearts and we were each touched by her loving presence and generosity.
We take comfort in 2 Corinthians 5:8, where the Apostle Paul states:
"Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from our earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord."
You are finally healed, our precious Roberta.
Roberta's sons, Robert and Rey will be leading her casket.
