The Epitome of Man
As God welcomed him to his everlasting place
He looked at him and said, “Alas, we meet face to face.
You made me proud and lived your life the best that anyone can.
You obeyed My Word and lived it true,
My epitome of man.
You kept the Ten Commandments, nary broke a one,
You were a loving, caring father to your daughter and your son.
You were devoted to your wife and faithful to the end.
You were honest, hardworking and helpful to all your fellow men.
If I had made all men in the image of your mold,
Perhaps there would have been
No wars, no hate, only loving souls.
But then you wouldn’t have stood above all the rest,
The epitome of man, perhaps one of my very best.”
Your loving daughter, Corliss Anne Pfisterer
