Robert Joseph Wootton

Robert (Bob) Joseph Wootton, age 90, passed away peacefully in his Albuquerque home on April 16, 2022. Born and raised in Albuquerque, Bob spent his early childhood enjoying the benefits of the Reynolds family dairy. He graduated from St. Mary's High School and went on to attend the University of New Mexico as part of the ROTC Officer Training program. He excelled in math and science which led to a Bachelor's Degree in Physics. Bob spent the next 20 years serving his country as a pilot in the USAF before retiring as a Lt. Colonel in 1974. Air Force Awards and decorations include the Distinguished Flying Cross & Air Medal with 4 clusters. He went on to enjoy a second career as a Systems Program Analyst for many years. Bob developed and pursued several of his greatest passions - including hot air ballooning, skiing, reading and world travels. He celebrated his 90th birthday downhill skiing in Sun Valley, Idaho with family and friends. Bob valued family above all else and loved any excuse to get together. His chats with family and friends over a cup of Irish Coffee will be greatly missed.

Bob is survived by life partner Candace Sestric, Albuq., NM, son Brent (Kristen), Los Alamos, NM, children, Robert Wootton (Evelyn), Estancia, NM, Cecilia Clouse (Doug), East Sound, WA, Catherine Magnussen (David), Valley Center, CA, Cynthia Wootton, Albuq., NM, Christine Boling (Bill), Albuq., NM, Kenneth Wootton (Charlene), Torreon, NM, Colleen Wootton, Irvine, CA, William Wootton (Christina), Albuq., NM, his four siblings, William Wootton, Oceanside, CA, Richard Wootton, Deming, NM, Margaret P. Donlan, Yarmouth Port, MA and Elsie Wootton, Albuq., NM, along with a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great grandchild, nieces, nephews and cousins too numerous to name but not forgotten.

Bob was predeceased by first wife, Marietta Woodruff, Albuq., NM, daughter, Carrie Devine, Clairemont, CA, parents, William K. Wootton, D.C., and Elsie A. Reynolds Wootton, Albuq., NM, and sister, Joan M. Luke, Albuq., NM

Memorial services will be held at the Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, Albuquerque, NM on April 25, 2022, at 11:00am with interment immediately following.
