Robert W. "Boykie" Chavez

Robert W. "Boykie" Chavez, 63, of Albuquerque, died Monday, July 15, 2013. Boykie graduated from Albuquerque High in 1968 and was a well known musician in Albuquerque for many years. He is survived by daughter, Marlene (Gabriel) Carranza; granddaughter, Alicia Carranza; grandson, Gabriel Carranza; sisters, Vivian (Mike) Pohl, Agnes M. (John) Aragon, Diana (Bob) Dominguez, Eileen Chavez; brothers, Ruben (Bea) Chavez, Ron (Alice) Chavez, Freddi Chavez, Filomeno (Diane) Chavez Jr.; sister-in-law, Mary Alice Chavez; numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and friends, including dear friend and mentor, Desi Baca. Chavez was preceded in death by his parents, Filomeno Sr. and Elsie Chavez; brother, Joe Nestor Chavez Sr.; niece, Joanne Mondragon; nephew, Ray Pohl. A Rosary will be recited Monday, July 22, at 10:00 am at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd NW. Celebration of the Mass will follow at 10:30 am. Viewing will begin at 9:30 am.
