Robert St. John

Robert M. St. John, Jr. died on December 13, 2024, in Albuquerque. He was 92. Born July 16, 1932, in Jackson, MI, Bob was the son of the late Robert M. St. John, Sr. and Marguerite W. (Roberts) St. John. Bob was raised in Dubuque, IA, and Memphis, TN, where he graduated from Messick High School in 1950. He attended Yale College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1954. Following a two-year stint in the U.S. Army, Bob attended Yale Law School and graduated in 1959. Seeking new adventures (and perhaps having watched too many episodes of Maverick), Bob moved across the country to Albuquerque, NM, to accept a position with Rodey, Dickason, Sloan, Akin, & Robb, P.A., and became a member of the State Bar of New Mexico on December 1, 1959. Over the course of his more than 60-year legal career, Bob was a member of numerous legal associations and received many awards.

Outside of work, Bob enjoyed spending time and traveling with his family, attending symphony and opera performances, and volunteering for various charitable organizations such as the Public Lands Interpretive Association, where he served for a number of years on the board.

Bob is survived by his three children - a daughter, Sarah St. John, of Albuquerque; a son, Matthew St. John and his wife, Laura, of Portland, OR; and a daughter, Anne St. John, of Arlington, VA; and three grandchildren, Malachi St. John, of Albuquerque, and Jillian and Reed St. John, of Portland, OR.

A Memorial service for Bob will be held at the Cathedral Church of St. John in Albuquerque on April 5, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., followed by a reception at the Albuquerque Country Club. The reception is scheduled from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Robert M.
