Robert Wayne Praus, III
April 29, 1994 - July 31, 2021
Robert Wayne Praus, III (Bobby) died at age 27 as the result of a motorcycle accident on July 31, 2021. He lived his entire life in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Bobby worked as a machinist following obtaining his G.E.D. and training in the industrial arts at Central New Mexico Community College. He attended El Dorado High School, Eisenhower Middle School, and Georgia O'Keeffe Elementary School.
In addition to metal work, Bobby had a passion for all manner of adventurous activities including skateboarding, street and dirt bike riding, fishing, and shooting. He and his childhood friends formed the Pink Cowz skateboarding team and Bobby spent much of his teenage years hanging out at the local skate parks. He was known for his bright smile and upbeat greetings with great hugs, and he was quite the jokester.
Bobby's life was transformed when his son Ryker Wayne Praus was born in February 2017. Since that time, Bobby dedicated himself to raising and teaching Ryker by structuring his life and his goals in order to be a good father. Ryker's mother is Kelsey Michelback and his maternal grandparents are Charles and Karey Mitchell, all of Albuquerque.
Bobby is survived by his son Ryker Wayne Praus of Albuquerque, his mother Cindy J. Chavez of Springfield, Oregon, his father Robert W. Praus, II of Albuquerque, his elder sister, Kristina M. Fordyce of Dixon, Illinois, his elder brothers, Shawn M. Praus of Rio Rancho, New Mexico and Stephen M. Praus of Springfield, Oregon. He had one living grandparent, Robert W. Praus of Springfield, Oregon. His other grandparents, Phyllis K. Praus, Shirley A. Thompson, and Joe C. Thompson, all of Springfield, Oregon, preceded him in death. Bobby came from a large extended family and had more than twenty aunts and uncles and over forty first cousins.
A Memorial Service for Bobby will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, 3:00 p.m. at FRENCH-Wyoming. The service will be followed by a reception. All who knew Bobby are welcome.
Bobby loved dogs. He took in a rescue dog named Bandit that his boy Ryker really loves. The family suggests that donations made be made in Bobby's name, in lieu of flowers, to an animal rescue organization. For example, New Mexico Animal Friends,
