Robert H. Parnell, born December 7, 1943 in Hatch, New Mexico to James and Louise Parnell, passed away March 30, 2017.
Robert graduated from Western New Mexico University in 1965. He went on to teach math and science at Bayard Cobre High School and became the superintendent of the Des Moines Schools system at the age of 26. He later served as the superintendent of the Truth or Consequences public school system, Tucumcari High School and retired from Springer Municipal School at the age of 49. He then spent 16 years in Arizona at Northland Pioneer College before retiring again in 2006.
Robert is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nora; his son, Scott; his daughter-in-law, Kandi; grandsons, Travis and Trey; granddaughters, Sarah and Savanah; great-granddaughters, Bentley and Bristol; his brother, Jim, and wife Sandy; his sister-in-law, Tess Greenwood, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Rosary will be held Friday, April 7, 2017 at 12:00 p.m., followed by a Mass at 12:30 p.m. at Church of the Incarnation, 2309 Monterrey Road NE, Rio Rancho, New Mexico 87144. A private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Robert's name to a charity of your choice.
