A resident of Albuquerque since 1955, passed away January 20, 2015. Robert was born in Laramie, Wyoming, July 7, 1925, the son of Earl Alexander and Mary Irene McKay. Following his service in the United States Navy during World War II, Robert received a Bachelor of Arts degree and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Wyoming Law School. As a Navy Reservist during the Korean War, Robert was recalled to active duty in 1951 and served in the United States Air Force Judge Advocate General's Department. Following his active duty he remained an officer in the United States Air Force Reserves, retiring at the grade of Major. Robert's civilian career began in 1955 in Albuquerque as an attorney with the Atomic Energy Commission and upon his retirement, he was Supervisory General Attorney and Assistant Chief Counsel, Albuquerque Operations Office, Department of Energy. Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Isabel Sandra McKay, his parents, and one sister, Dorothy June Hitchcock. He is survived by his beloved family members: sister, Mary Margaret McKay; daughter, Cathy Sorenson and husband Duane, and their daughter, Amy Gee, and husband, Robert, and their son, Easton; his son, Brian A. McKay; his son, Scott R. McKay, and his wife, Gina, and their children, Shelley and Sandra Keeton; Matthew McKay and wife, Megan, and their daughter, Sophie Rose; Crystal Lane and husband, Jace, and their sons, Casyn and McKay Christian. As requested, cremation has taken place and private ennichement will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date.
