Robert G. Lopez Sr. "Bobby", a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico was called to heaven on Sunday, May 15, 2022, surrounded by his loving family at home. Robert was a catholic all of his life and was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Robert was born June 7th, 1954, to Gustavo and Frances Lopez in Las Vegas, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his father, Gustavo Lopez; brother, Ralph Lopez (living wife Peggy); in-laws, Jose B. Archuleta, Deluvina Archuleta, Leandro and Asencion Gallegos; brothers-in-law, Julian, Patricio (Julie) and Johnny Gallegos (living wife Shada); sister in-law, Rebecca "Baby Becky" Gallegos.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dolores Lopez, who he was married to for 40 years; his mother, Frances Lopez; sibling, Edward Lopez; his children, Jennifer Henderson, Fran Cordova (Castillo), Estrella Lopez (Bernardo Jr.) and Robert Lopez Jr. (Linda); grandchildren, Jennica Maestas, Jacob Maestas (TJ), Kristyana Cordova (Jerry), Bernardo Jarmillo III (Leandra), Cruzita Cordova (Jaden), Diego Jaramillo, Analiyah Lopez and Santos Cordova. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Jayden, Enrique and Arianna; brothers and sisters in-law, Raymond Archuleta (Cindy), Theresa Medina (Tito), Patricia Gallegos, Elaine Archuleta (Rudy), Margaret Alire (Donald), Richard Gallegos (Daniella), and Robert Gallegos (Gabriel).
Robert G. Lopez Sr. was born in Las Vegas, New Mexico and raised in the beautiful small town of Wagon Mound. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and later attended New Mexico Highlands University where he met and married the love of his life Dolores S. Archuleta. They then became a family of six with Jennifer, Fran, Estrella and Robert. He received a Bachelors in Social Work and Education which he practiced and taught for 25 years in many communities throughout New Mexico. Throughout his life Robert enjoyed many hobbies such as: fishing, listening to music, dancing, playing basketball, "los walks", handing out $20.00 bills along with ice cream to all the family, praying, going to mass, going to art shows, flowers, and cooking. Robert had a unique gift of gathering his children together and planning special occasions.
Our family would love to celebrate his distinguished life as it was from the Lord that we received the gift of Robert G. Lopez Sr. "Bobby". We will always remember him with love and respect. We, who are left behind, submit ourselves to the will of God. We do not mourn without hope, we rejoice knowing that one day, we will meet again.
Services for Robert G. Lopez Sr. will begin on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at FRENCH - Westside with a public viewing to begin at 4:00 p.m. and rosary to follow at 5:00 p.m. to be prayed by the Hermanos. Mass will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022, 10:30 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Rio Rancho. Burial with Military Honors at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at 2:30 p.m.
Pallbearers: Bernardo Jaramillo Jr., Castillo Cordova, Jaden Gallegos, Bernardo Jaramillo III, Diego Jaramillo, Jerry Rodriguez and Jayden Romero.
Honorary Pallbearers: Jennica Maestas, Jacob Maestas, Kristyana Cordova, Cruzita Cordova, Analiyah Lopez, Santos Cordova, Enrique Trujillo, and Arianna Gallegos.
