Robert A. Jaramillo (Jara), age 50, was born on Tuesday, April 27, 1971. He passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, surrounded by his loving Valerie, his two beautiful children, and his adoring parents.
Robert is survived by his fiancé, Valerie Preston; children, Robert D. (Valerie) and Cristela (Tyler); his bonus granddaughter, Ivy; his parents, Robert B. and Nora Jaramillo; sisters, Jessica Arnett (John), Nathalie Aragon (CJ), JoAnna Harvey (Joel); godchildren, Jason Arnett and Angelique Garcia; as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Nestor and Ramoncita Jaramillo; maternal grandparents, Joe and Sally Sanchez; as well as his best friends who he loved as brothers, Jim Coleman and Matt Mestas.
Robert grew up in The Village of Los Ranchos and graduated from Valley High School in 1989. He grew up playing North Valley Little League and YAFL football where he made many life-long friends. He continued playing baseball and football as a Valley Viking. During high school, he began working at Sadie's. To this day, he always brought salsa to family functions and never shared the recipe. He attended UNM and started working at Costco in 1989. Robert worked his way up to assistant warehouse manager before retiring in 2018. He retired after 29 years of service to Costco. Upon retiring, his incredible work ethic and people loving skills continued and pushed him to become a successful realtor. Robert was also a Sons of American Legion Squadron 69 member for 21 years.
He raised his two beautiful children who were his pride and greatest joy. He coached them in baseball, football, and softball up until their high school years.
He was forever grateful to the mother of his children, Cristela Jaramillo, for the most precious gift he received in his life, his children. Robert was an avid sports fan. He loved his Raiders, but especially his LA Dodgers. He loved to take family trips to see Dodger games. Robert was always the number one fan at all his nephews' sporting events. He would always make sure they knew he was in the stands.
Robert also grew up hunting with his dad, uncles, and cousins. He raised his son with the same tradition of hunting. He was so proud of his son's first elk. He looked forward to their yearly hunt with his dad, his son, uncles, and cousins. It was a tradition he held close to his heart just like our annual Jaramillo Matanza. Family was number one to him.
Robert was a good man with a heart of gold. No one was a stranger to him; he had a special way of making everyone he met feel like the most important person in the world. His sense of humor and ability to make people laugh and smile was unsurpassed. He touched the lives of so many. His spirit will be missed forever until we are together again.
