Robert Herms

Robert Herms, age 89, passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2021, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Robert was born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, to Charles and Elaine. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Pamela Kinas. He is survived by his wife, Eileen; sons, Mark (Sue) Herms, Christopher (Cyndy) Herms; daughters, Paula (Bob) Hess, Jennifer (Kirk) LaPean; stepdaughters, Kimberly (Dale) Stewart, Deborah (Steve) Rohder, and a large extended family of relatives too numerous to list here.

He graduated from Fond du Lac High School, having excelled in various sports including basketball and track. He attended Carroll University and later joined the Air Force National Guard stationed at Truax Field in Madison, WI.

His professional career started at Speed Queen. He loved sales and advanced through the company. After several moves with Speed Queen, he was thrilled to start his own company, a warehouse distribution center for the RV industry in Elkhart, IN.

He purchased a home on Birch Lake in Michigan and enjoyed spending time fishing, boating and swimming. He especially enjoyed entertaining family and friends at the lake.

After many years, Bob sold his company but continued in sales with C&J Steel until he moved to New Mexico in 2019.

Bob loved Notre Dame and together with his neighbor Dick manned one of the parking lots during home football games. He enjoyed being with Dick and solving the problems of the world while meeting new folks from Notre Dame and the opposing teams.

Bob also volunteered as an usher at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mishawaka, IN. He enjoyed the camaraderie with the other ushers and especially their "Fish Frys".

Celebration of life will be on Bob's 90th birthday, Friday, January 7th, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at FRENCH - Westside. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Road Runner Food Bank.
