Robert W. "Bob" Grover

d. December 25, 2015

Robert (Bob) W. Grover, 74, born August 15, 1941 in rural Washington, NJ, passed away peacefully on Christmas Day in the home that he loved in Albuquerque, NM, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Grover; and mother, Ruth Grover. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Yolan E. Grover; his children, Ronald S. Grover and wife, Barbara of New Braunfles, TX, Brian D. Grover and wife, Leah of Albuquerque, Valerie L. Maes and husband, Ted of Albuquerque; sister, Sandy Simonson and Ken of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Meghan and husband, Justin Filizola, Traxler Maes, Amelia Grover, Tyler Maes and Graeme Grover; and aunts, Doris LaBar of Hackettstown, NJ, and Erma Barragon of Hollywood, FL. Also surviving are numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Bob grew up on the Grover family dairy farm in Allamuchy, TWP NJ, where he was part of the New Jersey FFA as well as a volunteer for the Allamuchy/Green First Aid Squad in his youth. Bob was a 1959 graduate of Hackettstown High School in Hackettstown, NJ. In 1968, Bob was awarded a Tax Assessor Certificate from Rutgers University and was elected to serve as Allamuchy TWP Assessor for several years. Bob and his family moved to the Land of Enchantment in 1973 from New Jersey while working with the Amerace/Elastimold Corporation, from which he retired in 2003, after 40 years of employment. Bob was instrumental in setting the foundation for Roadrunner Little League, where "Mr. Grover", "Coach Grover", or plain old "Grover" was a staple for two generations of youth baseball/softball at RRLL. At RRLL "Mr. Grover" was a coach, umpire and equipment manager for the league, and let's not forget, proud grandfather. Bob loved many things in life, just to name a few was first and foremost his wife, children and without a doubt, his grandchildren. Bob never missed a sporting event involving his kids or grandkids, nor an opportunity to spend time with them. He was an avid fan and supporter of his beloved Denver Broncos, New York Rangers, and let's not forget, his passion for the New Mexico Lobos! He was highly skilled in the "Sport of Kings", horse racing and looked forward every year to the Triple Crown and the Breeders Cup. Bob was also an accomplished gardener and loved to spend time in his backyard. His passion and love of music, especially Johnny Cash and country music, he enjoyed until the end. Bob lived a life full of fun and will be missed by his family and friends. Cremation has taken place, and Bob will be interred in the Tranquility Cemetery in Tranquility, NJ, at a later date. Memorial services will be held in Albuquerque on Saturday, January 9, 2016, 12:00 p.m., at FRENCH - University. Please visit our online guest book for Bob at www.FrenchFunerals.com
