Robert G. Eres, 92, longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away on November 27, 2015. He is survived by two daughters, Toni Gutierrez and Marjorie Burciaga; grandchildren, Deborah Arnett and husband, Joseph, and Rick Gutierrez and wife, Kimberly; great-grandchildren, Sabrina Gutierrez, Maverick Gutierrez, Tristan Arnett, and Mikeah Arnett; nephew, Joe Ontiveros; niece, Bernie Balizan; dear friend, Casey; and many extended family members. Robert was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Emma B. in 2002; mother-in-law, Urbanita Barela "nana"; and two daughters, Rita Short and Stella Centopani.
He was born in Las Cruces, NM to Pedro and Josephine Eres in 1923. Robert joined the United States Army and proudly served his country during WWII in the battle of Normandy, Northern France. He was the recipient of two Purple Hearts, a Silver Star, Bronze Star, and many other commendations. After his time of service Robert married Emma B. Barela. He worked for many years as an auto mechanic and heavy equipment mechanic. Robert was a man who lived by his own terms and found an extended family in the staff and members of the El Buen Samaritano Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 4, 2015, 11:00 a.m., at FRENCH - University. Burial service will be held at 2:15 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery following funeral service. Please visit our online guestbook for Robert at www.FrenchFunerals.com.
