Robert William "Bill" Elder

Robert William "Bill" Elder, 83, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2015. A native of Albuquerque, Bill graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1949, and received his undergraduate and master's degrees from the University of New Mexico. In 1950, Bill married his beloved Beulah, and they enjoyed almost 64 years together. During the Korean Conflict, he proudly served as a lieutenant in the Air Force. Bill worked at Albuquerque National Bank, later renamed Sunwest Bank, for over 40 years before retiring in 1992 as Vice Chairman of the Board and Chief Administrative Officer. Committed to physical fitness, Bill exercised at the YMCA regularly, and served on their board of directors for many years. Bill was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather, and he leaves his family a legacy of integrity, service, and humility. Bill is survived by his son Thomas Elder and wife Linda Byrd; his daughter Kristin Owens and husband Ron Owens; his grandchildren Angela Elder, Daniel Elder, Emmaly Owens, and Elizabeth Elder; great-grandsons Jasper Elder and Charlie Dobransky; and siblings Jack Elder and Ann Kellogg, both of Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah, and his son, Robert Charles Elder. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at French - Wyoming.
