Robert L Duckett, 90, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on November 14, 2023.
He was born on March 27, 1933, the youngest of five children, hence known as Bubba, to Lila Reynolds and Frank Burke Duckett in Pittsburg, Texas where he spent most of his childhood. He graduated from the University of Houston with a B.S in Business Administration. He joined the Navy in 1953 and served as an aviator for four years and then an additional 20 years in the Naval Reserve.
Bob had a very successful career in the pharmaceutical and medical supply industries across the United States and Europe before he retired in Albuquerque in 1998. Bob enjoyed crewing for hot air balloon teams for the ABQ Balloon Fiesta, he loved playing golf with his friends and flying with an aviation club out of Albuquerque. Bob loved FOOTBALL! He was a diehard loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys and threw a Super Bowl party every year whether his favorite team was playing or not. He had a beautiful voice and shared this talent by singing with the Barber Shop Chorus, New Mexichords.
Aside from military service, Bob was a true American patriot. He loved his country and valued his citizenship. He proudly raised the American flag outside his home, and he prayed daily for our government leaders.
Bob made a friend of everyone he met. He would take the time to learn their story and encourage or affirm wherever they were in their life’s journey. As a devoted Christian, he enjoyed leading men's bible studies, but most of all, Bob loved to share his faith in the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Helen of 14 years, whom he eloped and married in Santa Fe. He became affectionately known as “Mr. Bob” by Helen’s family, and for 15 years he’s been a very special part of her family.
Bob was pre-deceased by his dear first wife of 55 years, Janet Disch Duckett. He leaves behind his four children from his first marriage Denise Duckett Soares, Robbin Duckett May, Rachel Duckett Marotta, Robert Reynolds Duckett, 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Bob was very devoted to his four children as well as the extended Duckett families of his four other siblings. He was instrumental in bringing together the Duckett clan for frequent family reunions in Texas and Tennessee, where over 100 members would join to celebrate the Duckett Family.
A Celebration of Life service is being held Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at the Hope Church, 4710 Juan Tabo Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111 at 11:00 AM.
