Robert Thomas Carney left us on February 26, 2017 in Rio Rancho, NM. He was 87 years old.
Robert was born on October 29, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY to John and Olga Carney. His parents preceded Robert in his passing. His only sibling, John Carney, died valiantly on March 9, 1945 in military service on the island of Iwo Jima.
Robert was a graduate of Brooklyn Technical High School and went on to earn degrees from Davis & Elkins College in West Virginia and Lehigh University in Pennsylvania. After graduation, Robert began his career on Wall Street and eventually relocated to New Mexico where he became an entrepreneur in the hearing aid business, operating retail outlets in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. He retired after more than 25 successful years.
Although never married and without children, Robert was committed to helping friends and others in need. Over the years, he gave to numerous non-profit organizations and helped countless people and businesses, free of charge, with his financial know-how.
