Robert L. Brooks

Robert L. Brooks was born in Hugo, Oklahoma on September 19, 1947, and headed out on the highway for the last time on November 20, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Valerie; mother, Betty Brooks; sister, Beth Stewart and husband, Bill; and brother, Bart Brooks. He was predeceased by his father, Robert W. Brooks. Bob also leaves behind his second family at Wells Fargo Insurance Services (formerly the Kinney Agency), where he was employed for over 30 years. Bob was lucky to have a career he loved, working with people he enjoyed. His expertise was in surety bonding. He relished a challenge, and was proud to help his clients expand their businesses. Bob served with the 101st Airborne in Vietnam and was awarded a Purple Heart. He owned numerous cars during his lifetime that are now considered to be classics, the most recent being a 1955 Thunderbird. He enjoyed fly fishing in northern New Mexico and long motorcycle trips. His favorite places included Vermejo Ranch and Lake Powell. He was a member of the Lobo Club and an avid UNM basketball fan, attending the MWC tournament for many years. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, 10:00 a.m., at FRENCH - University.
