Rick Blacky Blackburn - Served in the United States Marine Corp. from 1969 - 1976. He did his basic training at Twentynine Palms Marine Corp. He was stationed in Kaneohe Bay Hawaii and served six months on the U.S.S. Iwo Jima. He was born October 3, 1952 in Xenia, OH. Blacky died at the V.A. Hospital in Albuquerque, NM on August 21, 2015 from complications following a motorcycle accident on July 18, 2015, coming home from Fire & Ice. He had a long career as a land surveyor. From early days in Arizona by pulling chains. At Central Arizona Project (CAP), from Picacho Mountain to Hidden Valley, he was ducking bullets on this job for about seven years. In New Mexico he surveyed: Chaco Canyon National Park for 4 years, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier National Park Glorieta Battlefield, Glorieta, NM. Pecos National Park, Greer Carson gave her Forked Lightening Ranch where they raised Santa Gertudus Cattle (Blue Blood) to the Pecos National Monument, from 5,500 to 13,000 acres. This was a six year job with a mountain called Mag's Overlook Monument Marker. Bandelier National Monument and Fort Union National Monument, one year at each monument. He worked at Jaynes Corp. for 18 years and at Blackburn Construction Staking for five years doing Commercial Surveying, i.e. at local and State Hospitals, High Schools, Middle Schools, Elementary Schools, Banks, Parking Structures, Colleges, Universities, Casinos, Hotels, Journal Pavilion, FBI Building, Women's Hospital and many numerous jobs in New Mexico. Blacky was preceded in death by his son Richard Lee Blackburn. He is survived by his loving devoted wife of 25 years, Maggi Meadows Blackburn; two daughters, Jamie Pahler of Tucson, AZ, husband Eric and two grandbabies, Austin and Ava and Sara Blackburn and two grandbabies, Adian and Amelina. He is also survived by three brothers, Randy Blackburn, David Cooper and John Poor, all from Arizona; his Gold Star mother-in-law, Eunice M. Foley; and many, many in-laws and outlaws, riders and friends. Marine Flag Holder: Tina Reeves, Marine.
