Richard Tafoya, age 95, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, since 2003, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2022. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Pranom Tafoya and his son, Richard Tafoya Jr.
Born Monday, January 21, 1927, in the Jemez Pueblo, Sandoval, New Mexico, Mr. Tafoya, a member of the Pueblo Jemez Tribe, was the son of Jose Ascension Tafoya and Rita Sando. A WWII veteran, he served in the United States Army Air Corps 3rd Bomb Group and then the USAF until his retirement in 1965. As an airplane mechanic he was deployed to Japan and Morocco. He then served in the reserves until 1975. Mr. Tafoya had many interests and was an avid golfer and bowler. He volunteered for Habitat for Humanity for over 15 years.
Services for Richard Tafoya will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at FRENCH - Lomas, 10500 Lomas Blvd NE Albuquerque, NM. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. with the Funeral Service to follow. We will depart for Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. for Internment.
