Richard Carl Stockton

On Wednesday, August 25, 2021, Richard Stockton, loving husband and father of four children passed away at the age of 93.

Richard was born to Ernest and Florence Stockton in Topeka, Kansas in 1928.  He graduated from Albuquerque High School and was captain of the state champion 1946 AHS basketball team (known as the tallest team in the country).  After receiving his degree from UNM, Richard was commissioned in the United States Marine Corps and saw combat in Korea and Viet Nam before retiring at the rank of Colonel in 1978.

He married Marjorie Ann Odle in January of 1951 in Albuquerque and together they raised a family that became a tight unit as they moved to new duty stations regularly. Richard loved to travel, ski, hike and spend time with his family.  He was known for his quick wit and his generosity and is fondly remembered by many.

Richard is survived by his wife, Marjorie; and his children, Ernie (Lauren), Tony (Kathie), Anita (James) and Paula (Bob). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Maura (Chris), Brynna (Patrick), Steven, Sophia, Reece, Kevin (Molly), Brandon, Madeleine and Loson, and two great-grandchildren, Thomas and June.

Richard’s life will be celebrated by friends and family at a later time.
