Richard Tony Sanchez 47, was called to his heavenly home May 25, 2024. Richard was born November 2, 1976 and was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, NM. Richard is survived by his parents Sam and Bernice Sanchez, his brother Sam Jr, wife Cynthia, his son Richard Sanchez Jr, wife Yessenia, his daughter Desiree Sanchez, son Jacob Sanchez, and granddaughters Mia and Alaia. He also leaves behind, two nephews, and many beloved uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
He attended San Felipe Elementary School, Ernie Pile Middle School, and Rio Grande High School. Richard found a passion for building homes at a young age as he worked alongside his father. He went on to get his own contractors license where he established a successful home building career in Richard Sanchez Custom Homes. He built many homes, winning a bronze and silver award in the Parade of Homes two years in a row.
In 2002, he attended Albuquerque Barber College where he received his Master Barber License. In April of 2003, he opened up First Class Barbershop, where he worked alongside his father for 21 years.
He loved his children and grandchildren immensely and will be forever missed. He bragged about them all frequently as each one of them seemed to obtain some of his best genetic qualities. His smile, his confidence, his determination, and his precision, to name a few. He was so proud of each of them.
Richard had a contagious love for life. It was no secret that he spared no expense to experience life to the fullest. Richard loved the outdoors and any chance he had he would be out camping, fishing, or hunting. He loved to golf and he loved to host big BBQ cookouts. He loved classic rock music, he loved Vegas, and he loved to play fantasy football. Every football Sunday he could be found either in front of the tv or at AT&T Stadium watching his beloved Dallas Cowboys. His talent for home building continued to flourish and it became his hobby, as he would regularly continue to remodel and upgrade his own home just to keep busy.
Everything he did, he did extravagantly. Most things he did were alongside his beloved father Sam. They did most things together. Richard cherished that bond with his father and regularly spoke of him as his best friend. Richard made many friends in the short time he was here. He left us many memories that we will carry with us forever.
