His first job in Albuquerque was at the Frontier Restaurant making their famous sweet rolls. That same fall Richard met Michael Pickard who would become his lifelong partner. Following the Frontier Richard would work for several years at Pick's Sandwich Shoppe working elbow to elbow with Michael and his parents. In 1977, Richard looked for an opportunity to use is creative talents and found a position as a floral designer for People's Flowers, a position he would hold for the next 29 years until he retired in 2006. Richard was a naturally shy man who was great fun to be with. His outspoken and often fearless comments, jokes and stories would keep all those with whom he worked in high spirits and moving the toughest job forward. Life here will never be the same, but his was a life will lived. Richard loved God and placed his faith and trust in Jesus Christ for his salvation.
