Richard Theodore Meyners passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 27, 2023, surrounded by his children. He is survived by his older brother, three children, and seven grandchildren and their spouses. He was born in Chicago, IL, the second son of Ted and Ruth Meyners.
His childhood was spent on the family farm in Iowa; in Omaha Nebraska; in Denver, Colorado and ultimately in Albuquerque New Mexico where he graduated from Highland High School. His attendance at the University of New Mexico was interrupted by his marriage to his sweetheart, Judy Eastman, a two-year stint in the United States Navy and the birth of his son. After the Navy he returned to Albuquerque and completed a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting at UNM. Throughout his career he worked for Neff and Company, partnered with Rogoff and Youngberg; and Meyners, McCarthy and Weems; culminating in the establishment of Meyners and Company.
Richard was an accomplished athlete who loved downhill skiing, running marathons, distance bicycling, racquetball and pickle ball. He was a faithful, loving husband through the sixty years of his marriage to Judy, who predeceased him. Within the Albuquerque community and beyond he is remembered for his support of community organizations, and the deep lasting friendships he forged. His organization of a neighborhood bike ride to breakfast was a source of great joy. As the Czar of the ride, he will be missed.
