Coach Richard “Dick” McGuire, age 90, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away Friday, June 23, 2017. Dick was best known for his long time association with UNM golf, as a player, coach and manager. He deeply loved the game of golf but he also appreciated nature and enjoyed hiking, backpacking and spending time in the mountains.
He is survived by two daughters, Rikki Gavalyas and Kathleen McGuire; two granddaughters, Tawnya Shannon and Keylee Cosper; and one great-grandson, Tyler Shannon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie, of 57 years; and his daughter, Ellen Cosper.
A viewing will be held on Friday, June 30, 2017 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at FRENCH – University. Funeral services will follow on Saturday, July 1, 2017, 10:00 a.m., at First Baptist Church-Bosque Farms, 1350 Bosque Farms Blvd, Bosque Farms, NM, 87068.
