Richard Lee Lamphere, M.D.
Dr. Lamphere was born on November 6, 1933, in Omaha, NE. He was the son of Kenneth and Lena Lamphere. He had two brothers, Kenneth and Donald, both of whom preceded him in death. He graduated from Midland Lutheran College in Freemont, NE and was accepted into The University of Nebraska College of Medicine in Omaha, NE. Following medical school, he completed his internship in Salt Lake City, UT. After practicing Family Medicine for a number of years in both Nebraska and Wyoming, he pursued a residency in Pathology at Madison General Hospital in Madison, WI. After many years of practice, he retired to Albuquerque, NM. Dr. Lamphere served in the Army National Guard where he attained the rank of Major.
Richard married Lavonne Reed December 6, 1953, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Omaha. To this union, six children were born: Sheryl L. Lesar (David), Kathleen A., Richard M. (Tamara), Thomas A., and Kristin E. Ferris (Kade). Their youngest son Kristophor John (Tammie) preceded him in death. Dr. Lamphere was blessed with thirteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He will be remembered fondly by all of his surviving family and friends for his gentle kind soul, supportive nature and his steady course throughout life.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020, 12:00 p.m., at Christ Lutheran Church, 7701 Candelaria Rd NE. Private Burial Services will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Christ Lutheran Church at 7701 Candelaria Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
