Richard Thomas Knudson

Richard Thomas Knudson, 63, beloved husband, father, Papa, son, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully at home July 12, 2016, surrounded by family and friends, as they worshipped God together. Richard was a man of love and integrity; a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. He loved spending time with family, entertaining grandchildren with stories of camping and Boy Scout days, working in his magnificent garden, and continually doing all sorts of projects with precision and perfection. He was a lifelong learner. Richard was a distinguished member of the technical staff at Sandia National Labs, and was greatly respected by his co-workers. He was a long-time elder at his church, Grace Fellowship. He was a servant and friend to many. He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen; his children, Aubrey Knudson and Krystle Boggs; son-in-law, Bradley Boggs; and his three grandchildren, Josiah Thomas, Lileigh Aubrey, and James Matthew Dietrich Boggs. He is also survived by his mother, Joan Knudson; sisters, Donna Fuller and husband, Duane, Martha Heintzleman and husband Rick, Joanne Rupel and husband Bill, and Kristine Podgorsak and husband Matthew. He also leaves cherished nieces and nephews, Heather Hand, Hollie Doherty; Megan DeVore, David Heintzleman, Sarah Hernandez; Kathy Howe, Susan Graves, John Rupel; Alex, Anthony, and Kimberly Podgorsak. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Knudson. His life was also touched by many beloved friends and his church family.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016, 11:00 a.m., at Grace Fellowship, 3384 State Highway 47, Los Lunas, NM 87031. A graveside service will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace Fellowship in Los Lunas for their soup kitchen.
