Kishbaugh, Richard Conway
Richard C. Kishbaugh passed away Friday, March 25, 2016 in Albuquerque, NM. He was 97 years old. Dick, as he was referred to by all who knew him, was born the ninth and last child of Albertus and Clara Kishbaugh in Nescopeck, PA in 1918. Dick grew up on a farm, but started his career painting signs for local business owners, a skill he developed into a life-long love of oil painting.
In high school he met his future bride, Minnie Jeanette Cragle, with whom he shared 73 years of his life until her death in July 2014. Dick started his career in Berwick, PA painting signs for local business owners. He went on to work for American Car & Foundry in Berwick designing railroad cars. During the war years, Dick enlisted in the US Navy and served on the USS Battleship New York. After the war, he went back to ACF, until he decided to take a job in New Mexico at LANL as a weapons designer. Later, he took a job at Sandia Labs, and finally returned to LANL, where he worked until his retirement in the late 1980's.
Dick is survived by his son, Richard Wayne Kishbaugh and his wife, Robin; and his daughter, Susan Magditz, all of Albuquerque. Other survivors include his adult grandchildren: Douglas R. Kishbaugh (Robyn), Stephanie Kishbaugh (Louis Vargas), Matthew Kishbaugh (Misty), Christopher Cooper, Misty Frazee; and six great-grandchildren. Dick was a quiet and reserved man, who was dedicated to helping his family. He will be deeply missed.
