Richard Lee Jourden (Chuck), passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at the age of 84. He was born December 9, 1936, in St. Louis, MO. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Louise (Talley) Jourden; brother, Ralph; and grandson, Bryson. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Jourden; his children, Mary Louise, Brian and Pamela, and Bettina. He is also survived by his sister, Iris and Preston Koprivica. He has eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He leaves many cherished relatives and friends. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Forestry/Engineering from the University of Missouri at Columbia. He was an All-American linebacker for the Tigers and was then drafted by the Green Bay Packers. He later came to Albuquerque where he joined the Forest Service. He later served honorably in the U.S. Army, in Korea as a Tech Sergeant. After his service to our country, he returned to the Forest Service where he worked for 37 years in the SW region including Deputy Forest Supervisor on the Gila and retired as Regional Office Fire Manager in Albuquerque. Chuck was also a long-time member of the Forest Service Amigos. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and was a fan of many sports. Chuck was a gentle, kind man who will be missed by all.
