It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Jorgensen (lovingly known as RW, Jorgie, or Dick) on the 29th day of June, 2023 at the age of 94 in Albuquerque, NM.
Dick was born on Saturday, June 22, 1929 on a farm in South Dakota. He is survived by his wife, Claire (Murphy), of 64 years; his children Maureen, Michael, Anne, and Janine. Grandfather of six and great-grandfather of five.
Dick loved to recall childhood adventures and riding horseback several miles to and from a one-room schoolhouse with his siblings. After graduating from high school in Winner, SD, he served in the Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953. He graduated from South Dakota State University in 1956 and was immediately recruited to work for Sandia National Laboratories as an electrical engineer. Some of his many accomplishments were systems engineering, project management of various weapon systems, development production and stockpile management. He retired in 1991.
Dick's passions were spending time with his family, gardening, traveling the world, camping, skiing, playing cards, snorkeling with his children, and hiking the mountains of New Mexico. Grandpa's camping and fishing trips with grandkids are treasured memories. He loved animals, and his canine companions were dear to him. He always appreciated a good joke, and laughed remembering stories from his childhood, our crazy family road trips, and watching "The Three Stooges" and "Seinfeld".
The family will hold a private ceremony to honor his remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to the Paws and Stripes organization,

"
Eternal rest give unto him, Oh, Lord;
and let perpetual light
shine upon him"
Always in our hearts, Your Family.
