Richard William Humphrey

On Tuesday, January 31, 2023, Richard Humphrey, husband and father of four, passed away at the age of 90.

Richard was born in St. Lawrence, South Dakota to Walter and Margaret Humphrey. He received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 1955 from St. Martin's University in Washington, and then worked for Los Alamos National Laboratory as a computer programmer for his entire career. He married Marie Rosasco in 1958 and raised four children. After their divorce in 1976, Richard married Ida Kraig in 1979.

Richard was passionate about a variety of hobbies over his long life, including bicycle racing, tabletop and computer wargames, organ and mandolin playing, and Russian language studies. He will be remembered for his dry wit and signature laugh.

Richard was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Maria; his son, Joe; and his brothers, Craig, Tommy and Jim. His last brother, George, died just 8 days after Richard passed. Richard is survived by his wife, Ida; children, Cathy, Andy and Rosanne; step-children, Ellen, David, Bobby and Barbara; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 11:00 am in the chapel at La Vida Llena.
