Richard (Dick) A. Gentry, age 92, a longtime resident of Albuquerque and former resident of Los Alamos, died peacefully on November 24th, 2024, from the complications of cancer. He was surrounded by loving family.
He lived a full life of love for Jesus Christ, devotion to his beloved spouse Nancy, and was blessed by loving relationships with his children, Leslie, David, Stephen, and Paula, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Dick enjoyed a productive 28-year career as a scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory and loved to explore and share how science revealed the hand of God in creation.
At the time of his death, Dick was an active member of Hope Church Albuquerque. He loved to serve others in the community through foreign student language ministry, jail and aftercare ministry, and gave his time to protect and preserve the lives of the unborn. He was pleased to encourage others with his insights learned as he recovered from heart disease.
He enjoyed Bible study, perfecting recipes for low-carb diets, investing, and regular walks with Nancy in the foothills of Albuquerque. He was always happy to share his latest bread or yogurt recipe, thoughts on low-carb diets, and their positive impacts on health.
Most importantly, he shared a surprise that people loved him as they did.
His heartfelt wish was to grow closer to Jesus and hoped to share a similar faith with others through his life and words.
A memorial for Dick will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, December 14th, at Hope Church Albuquerque, 4710 Juan Tabo Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111 www.hopechurchabq.com. The family would be blessed if all who know Dick could attend. A potluck lunch will follow the memorial service.
