Richard C. Davisson

Richard C. Davisson passed away December 7, 2017 at 11:20 am.  He was born July 11, 1934 to Richard B. and Margaret E. Davisson in Lima, Ohio.

He is survived by his sons,  Richard A. Davisson, and Deric G. and Mari Lynn Davisson; his sisters, Joan and Mike McGue (Lima, Ohio) and Cheryl Davisson (Lima, Ohio); son-in-law, Dan Currier;  grandchildren, Gregory Young Jr. (great-grandchildren Gemma, Abigail, Xavier, Gabrielle, and Janaea), Doug Currier, Lisa Currier (great-grandchildren Justin and Jacob), Shiree Young (great-grandchildren, Isaiah and  Illias), and Haley Davisson. He is also survived by multiple cousins, nieces, and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents,  Richard B. Davisson and Margaret Carper; his sisters, Diana Bell and Karen Shaw; his step-mother, Clara Roeder Davisson; his wife, Anna Davisson; and his daughters, Lorraine A. Davisson, and Terry D. Currier.

“Dick” loved playing all sports, especially softball and golf.  He was extremely competitive (in a good way).  Dick graduated from Lima South High School in June of 1952.  He lettered in football and baseball in high school.  He enlisted in the United States Air Force in August of 1952 and was an Air Traffic Controller.  Dick played fast pitch softball in the USAF and was on the winning team for the North-East Air Command in Newfoundland, Canada.

He married the Love of his life, Anna Faye Hopkins on May 15, 1954.  They had four children, Lorraine A., Richard A., Terry D., and Deric G. Davisson. He was later hired by the CAA (Civil Aeronautics Administration)/FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) in March of 1957. He worked as an Air Traffic Controller at Cleveland Air Route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC) in Cleveland, Ohio. While there he played both fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball.  His team won the city, county, and district titles in 1961 and 1964.  He transferred to the Albuquerque ARTCC July 25, 1965 as an Air Route Traffic Control Specialist.  He attended The University of Albuquerque in the 70’s receiving all A’s.  He played basketball and softball in the City of Albuquerque until he was 81 years old. He played golf until he passed away. He was on numerous winning teams, winning City, District, State, Regional, and World championships.

Friends may visit FRENCH-Lomas Chapel on Thursday, December 14, 2017 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.  Funeral service will be Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Methodist Church, 9500 Constitution Ave. NE, Albuquerque, NM  87123 with a luncheon to follow. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, 924 Menaul NE, Albuquerque, NM  at 2:00 p.m.
