Richard Brazfield, born on October 2, 1940, in Mountainair, New Mexico, passed away on September 2, 2024, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he had lived for many years. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joy Adele Keller, and his son, Richard.
Richard is survived by his brothers, Tony Brazfield and Gene Brazfield; his sisters, Delia Padilla and Dorothy Fondy; his 2 grandsons, and by other loving family and friends.
A proud Army veteran, Richard served during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he had a distinguished career at Sandia National Laboratories, where he played a key role in designing the Mars Pathfinder airbag prototype and Kevlar gauntlets for Sandia's Parachute Laboratory.
Richard will be remembered for his contributions to both his country and his field of work, as well as for the love and dedication he showed to his family.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Richard's life at French's Funeral home located at 7121 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109 on September 11th, 2024, from 11:30 am-1:30 pm. Interment services will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery located at 501 N Guadalupe St, Santa Fe, NM 87501on September 23rd, 2024, at 10:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, family and friends are encouraged to make donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital at stjude.org
