Richard Alan Bauling passed away suddenly, on Thursday, March 16, 2023, after a two-year struggle with multiple myeloma and amyloidosis (heart disease). Surviving him are his loving family: sons, Riley (Leah) and granddaughter, Stella; and Zach (Katherine) and granddaughter, Beatrice; sisters, Barbara Reeback (Del Packwood) and Ronni Roper (Tom); nephew, Adam Reeback; nieces, Meredith Reeback, and Tracy and Stephanie Roper; and loving friend, Charlotte Ortega.
Richard was born August 6, 1951 in New Rochelle NY, to Phyllis and Irving. He arrived in Albuquerque with his childhood buddies to finish college and ski, in 1970. Always the athlete, “Richie” was a Little League star, then swam and played slow-pitch softball for years. He became an enthusiastic Little League coach for his own boys’ teams, cheered them at soccer games, and perfected their golf games along with his own. He found his true calling as a gifted and devoted fourth and fifth grade teacher, at Alamosa and Griegos Schools. “Mr. B” enriched student learning with daily running, frequent personal notes and occasional aerobics and dancing. Finally retired, he dedicated himself to his favorite sport, golf. Richard would ask you to support your local elementary school teachers.
Please join us at a gathering for friends and family Saturday, May 13, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Paradise Hills Golf Course, 11035 Country Club Ln. NW. In his memory, consider a donation to the Notah Begay III Foundation (encouraging youth sports): https://www.nb3foundation.org/donate-2.
