Richard E. Barela, Sr., age 49, our beloved brother, passed away in an unexpected, tragic accident. Our beautiful brother had a heart of gold and would do anything for you if he was able to. Over the last several months Richard was the happiest we had ever seen him, his infectious smile and sense of humor would light up a room. He will be dearly missed
He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Frances Messina; stepfather, Charles Messina; and father, Joe D. Barela. He is survived by his only son, Richard E. Barela, Jr.; four sisters, Brenda Barela, Bernadette Barela, Diana Chavez (Louie Ramirez) and Geraldine Garcia; godson, Carlo Moody (Rebecca Moody); and several nieces and nephews; and his girlfriend, Sherry Akin.
