Richard James Arias, 72, father, brother, uncle and friend, was called to his eternal resting place on July 26, 2021. He entered this world on January 27, 1949 in New York City, born to Joseph and Rose Arias. He is survived by his son Brian Arias; grandsons Jacob Arias and Aaron Arias, his nieces Alison Arias Givens and Julie Arias Young; sister-in-law Toby Arias; and daughter-in-law Adriana Arias.
The Arias family had a strong work ethic and Richard learned it at an early age. After graduating from Fairleigh Dickinson University he spent his career working in sales and business development roles and taught briefly at Texas Southern. Although he suffered from leukemia the last few years, he continued to work until just two months ago because he enjoyed interacting with people. He was a voracious reader of historical documentary books and continued to grow as a person until the end.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 30th at Fairview Memorial Park in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Richard's name to the Leukemia Cancer Foundation.
